This two day, online workshop focuses on painting the illusion of figures – figures standing alone in a pose, a group of figures, lovers, a family, figures on location, figures outdoors… I think you get the idea! Painting the illusion, or the suggestion of figures is an adventurous way to get unexpected results and surprises.
We will use several techniques in this workshop; the first is called “reductive painting” – taking some of the paint away. Reductive painting works beautifully on a pre-gessoed canvas or a gessoed sheet of watercolor paper.
The other technique is a lighting technique that I call Rembrandt-style lighting, using both a limited palette and full-vibrant color.
This workshop is online, for all levels. Handouts will be emailed.
