For me, I have found these steps helpful for painting a series:

*First have an idea, a concept of what it is you want the painting to say.

*Then, write it down - journal about the idea.

*Now, automatically, you've just written your goals, your intention for making your next painting.

*Finally, just start painting. But first, have an idea - this helps keep me focused.
