Dear Artist,
Have Big Intentions First.

Before painting, write in your sketchbook your goals, your intentions, why you are painting this in the first place and... name the painting before painting it. When the painting matches your goals and title, it's done. If you skip this beginning ritual, you won't know if the painting is done. I've heard this, "If you don't know where you're going, how do you know you've arrived?"
