Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
Make a splashy, abstract, colorful mess first. I prefer to start out loose, wet and with an upbeat tempo!
You may have noticed that I/m not a botanical flower painter... I admire others who do! Because I am not exactly interested in repeating their expertise, I prefer the "dump my toys on the floor and see what game we can play" approach. I start off with a colorful mess.
After my mess has dried, I mix a very wet puddle of opaque color and paint over what is NOT a vase with flowers. This technique is negative shape painting... also known as reductive painting.
This is an especially helpful exercise to do on top of all those "turkeys" piling up over there in the studio corner!
I just wanted you to know what I do in the studio when no one's looking!
See you at the Art of the Carolinas!
